The turning point of our mother nation Sri Lanka is massive. The vital initiative was taken by
our people to step for peace and justice throughout the streets. Moving on, What happened to Sri Lanka all of sudden?, How people were into the protest consecutively. As my personal
view with many familiar people who spoke to me was about the petrol crisis and power cuts.
This is where the burden on the whole nation was put into. Almost people were in trouble
when it gets higher and higher people were unable to bear it and rushed into the streets.
Different sources give a different perspective and the Indian express news brings out about
the power cut as:
“Reeling under its worst economic crisis, Sri Lanka on Tuesday (March 2) announced
nationwide seven-and-a-half hour daily power cuts. This is the longest power cut announced in Sri Lanka in 26 years, according to the news agency AFP. The country has been imposing sporadic power cuts amid its dwindling fuel supplies.”
This is somewhere that takes over history and people bring many ideologies and methodologies among their own places with many strong constructive in order to take over the authority.
Likewise, AL Jazeera news states the downfall of the economy was bringing the whole burden on the nation as follows:
“One thing to be addressed here is all because of the financial crisis. Almost Sri Lanka from the initial had the issue but how it formed as a tsunami and impacted every individual personally.
Here the authorities are quite safe and all the civilians are fighting and starving in order to
bring justice and peace with their very own knowledge, opinions, ideas, and views. The downfall of the economy and poverty is directed by the disaster on fuel and power. Al Jazeera gives an explanation of the current situation in SriLanka as:
“The regulatory body said the state-owned Ceylon Electricity Board had requested
permission for the cuts as fuel shortages had caused the loss of about 700 MW to the national grid. Over the last few weeks, Sri Lankans have experienced several sporadic power failures.
Utility commission chairman Janaka Ratnayake said the “shortage of fuel is causing this
issue” while adding that “we are having a fuel crisis not an electricity crisis”.
Depleted foreign reserves are driving Sri Lanka’s worst economic crisis in decades. A
currency crunch has hindered imports of fuel and other essentials from overseas, including
milk powder, cooking gas and petrol.””
This tsunami killed many innocent souls considering the pathetic situation highly affected our nation and every individual. Focusing on the petrol queue, how many innocent lives lost their life because of waiting under heavy hot weather without having their meals or
water. Did the authority address this issue? No. They didn’t. Only the families and surrounding ones would cry and then proceed with the burial. Did the authority even
give a single penny to support these innocent people to survive? Focusing on power cuts which basically initiated from 7 hours and reduced to 3 hours also now back again with 7 hours and 30 minutes. Here an argument arises from the little hearts: “Focus on you’re education? But how?” Children were completely into chaos and dilemma.
Considering the school routine, when they wanted to get into the school no petrol in the vehicle. When they wanted to get into the online classes no power. What else a child can do. Here the mentality and psychological aspect of a child is very important. Today the protest, from newborn babies to old stages people are engaging to prove the civilians have the power and they are not lower when it comes to justice. Many sponsorships, many foods, many shelters, many aids, and many books were provided why not! It also had an attire to show that our mission is to bring Sri Lanka back with justice. We can see that currently, media channels say, PROTESTING IS A BEACH PARTY! This is a completely false statement provided to dominate people and de motive their mission. People were staying there 24×7 and continued the protest till the authority hears these innocent voices and their pains.
They pierce their heart into the throne deeper and deeper! A complete patriotism was shown
by the people, did the people were a burden to the public rules and public property? No. They
did not! Many hands joined together without seeing or considering ethnicities and races or class domination as after all we all are single people and individuals who are supporting the
country.
Let me provide certain views portrayed about the current crisis as question with the source:
- Why are Sri Lankans protesting in the streets?
- Why have people taken to the streets?
- Why are the Rajapaksa family targets?
- Why is there an economic crisis in Sri Lanka?
- How much foreign debt must Sri Lanka repay?
- What help can Sri Lanka get from abroad?
These all were addressed precisely by the media institution BBC.
This can be the childhood that we never had and never hoped to. This is a point where all the individuals were suffering and losing their life. The people did not act as a barrier to the entire nation. All that they and what we wanted was justice. Protest continues in several areas across Sri Lanka to show that the people have entire legitimacy and power to bring the solution. They will voice out definitely for justice and plant the white flag as the peace in the country. Till then the protest will continue and certain music industries were at Galle Face where they highlighted the current situation through the lyrics and with a pathetic musical tone.
Petrol queue and power cuts, How are we going to overcome this?
The massive reason behind this was the election methodology; a single vote can save the country. People script themselves to each political party and they dominate the other party as well and praise the other party as well. An election is not a butterfly that brings only happiness. It is where our entire country hoped. Millions of people, millions of places, and millions of issues are situated. It is our right choice to use our knowledge by analyzing critically and analytically to choose the correct leader.
All the leaders who are going to rule the country do not bring sun shining and rainbows, they also bring dark and thunder to the people with many strategies to fool the people by dominating and discriminating. Lack of literacy, analysis, and criticism had led our people to fall under their grips and get surrendered like nothing.
What is your choice?
AL Jazeera back again brings about the ‘Gotta go’: Anti-government protest strike grips Sri Lanka. Demonstrations continued with shortages of imported food, fuel, and medicine during the severe economic crisis.
