‘’Feminism is toxic’’, ‘’Feminism is extremism’’ , Is feminism really what we consider it to be? Is feminism a myth? Is feminism actually how it’s portrayed? what exactly is feminism? Feminism is a very easy term to be defined, it basically is the advocacy of equal rights for all genders, but often the beautiful concept of feminism is misunderstood and misled, few understand feminism as a concept which only favours women and portrays it in a way that only favours women which have led to the hatred towards feminism gained in the recent years, there are people out there who completely ignore men’s rights and only focus on women’s which has led to the extremism in the aspect, we need to understand that a true feminist is someone who entertains equal rights enjoyed by all the genders.
Feminism came into existence because of the unfair treatment women faced in the past, it was brought into place for women to receive equal rights like men, a lot of people who quote themselves as feminists, tend to disrespect other genders instead of trying to take steps to improve women’s rights, and at the same time there are people taking advantage of the concept by committing atrocious activities and they tend to call it ‘’feminist’’, which has led to the misunderstood image feminism has gained in the recent years. When we talk about the misunderstood image. We will also have to address how much feminism has been disrespected by ‘’toxic masculinity’’, famous personalities out there advocate that ‘’women belong to the kitchen, and giving them freedom has led to feminism’’, the real question is, the society which can call out ‘’toxic feminism’’, can’t call out ‘’toxic masculinity’’? when there is a little bit of a controversial statement stated in regard to feminism, it is considered a huge issue.
Equal rights for all genders should be celebrated and entertained, from the little things which start out with the parents who raise their children. The children should be taught to respect all genders which will later be carried out to the next generations, every child should be taught to respect everyone regardless of any factor, everybody deserves equal treatment. All of us coexist together in the same world, so all of us deserve the same treatment. Everyone should learn that no individual or group is privileged to one another. A world where everyone can coexist peacefully with no disrespect to each other is what we should aim and look forward to, not a world where we debate on which gender is on top of the other.
Both feminism and masculinism are beautiful concepts which are against gender inequality, but the way they are portrayed is clearly not all the activists should focus on understanding the real cause of why these concepts were brought into place and fight for them. The misconception will slowly erase in that case and the world would lead towards equality.
The concept of gender roles again plays a huge role in this case, this concept often is fed to children sometimes even starting from the birth of the child, gifting a pink set of clothing to a girl child and a blue set of clothing to a boy baby and soon assigning what the children should play with such as dolls for the girls and cars for boys and later even with career options. From the early stage of life, individuals are fed with differences which are often carried out in later parts of life, at the end of the day, even though we are individuals from different backgrounds regards with country, language, gender, and religion, we all are humans, and as humans, it’s our basic responsibility to respect each other, spread equality.
