We are extremely delighted at the successful completion of “WellBridge,” a groundbreaking initiative organized by the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. Held on December 11, 2023, this event aimed to bridge the knowledge gap between medical and physiotherapy students, fostering collaboration for holistic patient care.
The event featured esteemed speakers, Consultant Neurologist Dr. Kumarangie Vithanage, and Physiotherapist/Musculoskeletal and Neurorehab Specialist Ms. Tanya Wijesinghe. Their insightful presentations provided a comprehensive understanding of each profession and highlighted the synergies in patient management. Attendees, comprised of medical and physiotherapy students, actively engaged in a hands-on session guided by Dr. Vithanage and Ms. Wijesinghe, further enhancing their practical knowledge. There was overwhelming positive feedback from the engaged audience of medical and physiotherapy students.
WellBridge, with its dual-phase approach and expert speakers, aimed to address the challenges of limited cross-profession understanding and underutilization of skills. By bringing together these two disciplines, we anticipate a positive impact on future healthcare practices.
This initiative aligns with our commitment to preparing students for a collaborative and patient-centered healthcare environment. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Kumarangie Vithanage, Ms. Tanya Wijesinghe and all participants for making WellBridge a resounding success, contributing significantly to the project’s overarching objective of enhancing interprofessional collaboration.
